Positions: forwards and backwards.

Money: recognition of coins up to 20p and value of coins up to 10p.

Length: measureing height and length using non standard units. Vocabulary: long, longer, short, shorter, tall, taller.

 Mental Arithmetic

Count on from any number & back again.

Count on in 2's up to 20.

Know addition number pairs which total ten.

Add pairs of numbers together up to 10.

 

 

Science:

Our unit of work is:

Ourselves: Part of the body. How we grow and change. Our birthdays. Investigations about our height in relation to our age. The life cycle of a frog, our senses and how animals move.

Light and dark: reflective lights, sources of light. Investigation on the brightness of light sources.

 

 

 

History & Geography

History: Toys from the past: Comparing toys from long ago to modern toys. What materials old and new toys are made of. Vocabulary: Modern, old, Long ago, past and present.

 

Geography: Around our school - the local area. The area where they live (addresses). How children travel to school. Drawing maps and plans of the school and their journey to school from home. Identifying familiar buildings in the local area. Vocabulary: Address. Buildings. Plans. Journey.

 

 

 

ICT

Computer and real life simulations. Using their mouse skills to drag and drop objects on the computer.

Using a paint programme to create paintings on the computer. Becoming familiar with computer icons and what they mean.

 

 

 

Art & Design

Art: Ourselves and light and dark. Self portraits. Photo frames, crafts of frogs. Paintings of sunsets.

D&T: Moving pictures:Investigating how pictures move and making moving pictures.

 

 

 

Physical Education

Games: Ball skills: learning how to steer a ball with hands and feet.. Gym: moving in different ways. Dance: basic actions of travelling, varying speed, directions and pathways. 

 

 

 

Religious Education

God's gifts and caring for them.

Being part of God's family. What is Advent. The celebration of Christmas.
