Morning session:
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Please remember to collect your child promptly at the end of the session, as she or he may become anxious if left after the other children have gone.
As we see parents on a daily basis at nursery, general information sharing between parents and staff about children occurs informally at the start and end of sessions. If, however, you need to share any concerns more privately, please make an appointment to see a member of staff at the end of a session, when we will be glad to help you.
Attendance:
Please establish a good pattern of regular attendance and punctuality. Regular attendance is important in order to keep your nursery place.
Please let the Nursery know if your child is going to be absent on Tel: 20075978 or the Head-Teacher on Tel: 20078888.
Clothing:
Please send your child in clothes that are easy from him/her to manage independently; elasticated clothing and Velcro fastening footwear are ideal. It helps everyone involved if children have some self-help skills such as managing coats, zips, buttons, etc.
Discipline:
Children’s learning is promoted where parents and nursery staff work together to encourage and value positive behaviour. At nursery we use positive recognition to reinforce good behaviour. Children are rewarded with certificates and stickers. We ask parents to sign a home/nursery contract for behaviour. This will be discussed with you in more detail during the induction meeting. We use a traffic light behaviour system. We have an inverted traffic light on display with the names of the children in the nursery.
We start the day on a positive note:
Green: means that they have been conforming to nursery rules;
Amber: means that they have had your first warning;
Red: means that they have had your second warning;
If they have a third warning then the child’s name goes on black and they will have a time out.

Arrival:
Use either front gate or back door to drop off and
collect your child.
Coat pegs:
Each child will have their own coat peg with his/her name attached. Children should have satchels and all items of clothing labelled with their name.
Meeting your child:
It is important that you let us know if someone different will be collecting your child at the end of the session.
Toileting:
Every child in the nursery should be able to cope with going to the toilet independently.
Record keeping:
We keep records on all children attending the nursery. You will have both formal and informal opportunities during the year to discuss your child’s progress.
Assessment:
During activities, adults observe the children and record any significant observations in their individual Record Booklets. Parents/Carers are entitled to see their child’s Records at any time. We are continually assessing and monitoring children’s progress and needs.
Milk and snacks:
Milk for each child is provided free of charge. Children are allowed to bring their own tuck and boxed juice. No fizzy drinks. We encourage children to eat healthy tucks. No sweets.
Toys:
We do not encourage children to bring toys into nursery. The nursery will not accept responsibility for belongings, which may become broken or missing.
Accidents:
Accidents are recorded in a file and information will be given to you if your child has been hurt.
Outdoor Play:
Children are given maximum access to outdoor play – weather permitting! We plan outdoor activities carefully so children engage in learning across the whole of the curriculum.
Settling In:
Every child is different, some will settle straight away, whilst others need varying degrees of time to feel happy and secure in school.
We encourage parents/carers and staff to work closely together to match the right support to each individual child to make settling in as smooth as possible.
Cooking:
We kindly ask parents to give £5 on a termly basis to contribute towards buying cooking ingredients.
